METS: New products for comfortable life on the water

Webasto presents innovations for on-board comfort at METS

Stockdorf/Munich/Amsterdam. – November, 2008 – Webasto and Indel Webasto Marine will be represented with an entire series of new products at the most important trade fair for boating marine equipment, Amsterdam’s Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS). Interested visitors will find Webasto in Hall 2, Stand 101, as well as in rooms C and D on the upper floor. Product highlights such as the new BlueComfort ControlPad will be presented along with Webasto Marine Roofs and the new product portfolio of marine refrigerators and freezers.

Indel Webasto Marine will be introducing its products to an international audience for the first time. The Joint Venture between Webasto and the Italian company Indel B was founded at the beginning of this year. Both partners are 50% shareholders of Indel Webasto Marine. Its refrigeration and freezer solutions received the Innovation Award in the first week in October at the International BoatBuilders´ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) in Miami. By presenting the award, the 2008 Innovation Award jury acknowledged the user-friendliness of the refrigerators, their stylish design and their energy-saving engineering. The devices, manufactured by Indel Webasto Marine under the brand name Isotherm allow frost-free operation and offer various design features such as glass doors in multiple sizes.

Complete control

A highlight at this year’s trade fair is the BlueComfort ControlPad. The control panel for boat allows central control of heating and cooling on boats suppliers with several cabins. It features a color-display touch screen and extensive diagnosis functions, providing access to all system information at a glance. The BlueComfort ControlPad also provides an entire line-up of digital and analog ports, CAN bus or Ethernet connections. It is fully compatible with all Webasto’s BlueCool Premium boat air conditioners. The system features a watertight design in accordance with IP standards (front side in accordance with IP67; casing in accordance with IP66) and a display that can be read even in bright sunlight. The modern control panel only weighs 1.9 kilograms and requires a mere 1-amp, 24-volt power supply.

Complete overview

Some of Webasto’s additional new products at METS are the roof marine platforms and the upgrade option to a panoramic roof. By installing an additional panel, Webasto’s sliding roofs could be upgraded to panoramic roofs. The panel, which is mounted between the guide rails of the sliding roof, is made of glass or acrylic and doubles the transparent surface area. Already with the smallest model, the large panoramic roof then totals around three square meters in area. The new development enhances the already existing roof portfolio that Webasto has been distributing under the Hollandia brand name. Under the new name Webasto Marine Roofs, Webasto now offers three platforms to cover a wide range of customer request in terms of size and design: Series 60, Series 80, and Series 150. They all offer a high level of operational comfort and the durability that is indispensible for use at sea.

Complete program

Webasto will of course be showing its highly-relieable heating systems in Amsterdam as well. That includes the new AirTop Evo series. It offers an energy-saving mode, but also provides the opportunity for quick cabin heating with a power-boost function. The AirTop Evo series is especially small and lightweight. The devices consume very little of that ever-precious on-board energy. Webasto will also be showing its heating and cooling systems from the brands BlueHeat, BlueCool.

Webasto also presents the unique complete climate control solutions BlueComfort. Under that brand, optimized applications are realized by integrating a heating system and an airconditioning system.

Yet full on-board comfort requires more than heating and air conditioning. A wide variety of refrigerators and hot boat water heaters will also be on display at the Webasto stand. They belong to Indel Webasto Marine and are sold under the brand names Isotherm and Isotemp. These products have been accumulating a high reputation on the market for high quality and design. Specially designed for marine use, they are individually tailored to conditions on board. The devices require little space, offer a safety feature to prevent unwanted opening, and consume little electricity. Some models use the patented self pumping (SP) system to dissipate exhaust heat from the refrigerator without any electrical consumption. That’s why it is particularly well-suited for navigational boat yachts.
