Aquastar Lets the Sun Shine In - Webasto Marine Roof 60 Series Fitted to Aquastar 38 Webasto Marine Comfort

Doncaster – February 3, 2012. Guernsey-based luxury motor yacht builder Aquastar is completing the installation of a Webasto powered sunroof on a new Aquastar 38 for a local customer, the first time the company has installed this type of specialist marine product.

The sunroof, a Webasto 60 Series top-mounted model 1.1m in length by 1.5m wide, features a 15mm thick, smoked grey acrylic panel, set in a top quality, seawater-resistant anodised aluminium frame. Non-corrosive materials are used for all mechanical components and fly screens or sun blinds are optional. Smooth and quiet in operation, the electrically powered sunroof literally adds a new dimension to fine weather cruising and can also “tilt” opened, providing ventilation even in rainy conditions.

Geoff Wilson, Aquastar’s owner and Managing Director, has been involved with Webasto diesel powered marine interior heaters in the past, his company having fitted them in numerous sizes of craft in the extensive Aquastar model range, and is impressed with the sunroof’s appearance and construction, saying: “It is surprising how much the main saloon feels to have been opened out and the extra light and fresh air the sunroof provides should add to the whole cruising experience in good weather. The installation of the roof has been trouble-free, it looks very good and I really feel it enhances the overall appeal of the boat.”
The 60 Series sunroof is just one of a complete family of marine powered sunroofs available from Webasto and can be top mounted or flush fitting, is delivered fully tested, pre-assembled and ready to install. The 80 Series features a dedicated frame design and modular construction. Port to starboard cross-curvature is possible and the moving panel (up to 80kg weight) tilts for ventilation as well as sliding. The 150 Series consists of a powered moving panel of up to 150kg weight, plus the option of an additional fixed panel, both of which can include exclusive double curvature designs. Webasto’s Marine Engineering Services can also bring any marine architect’s roof ideas to reality by offering product visualisation, development and one-off manufacture.

Webasto Group, based in Stockdorf near Munich, has been a family-owned business ever since the company was founded in 1901. Internationally, the group has more than 50 locations (including over 30 production plants) dedicated to the business sectors roof and thermal systems. Webasto is one of the top 100 automotive suppliers worldwide. For 2011 the group expects a sales volume of 2.3 billion Euros and employs over 9,500 employees.
