Wauquiez Pilot Saloon 55: Sailing at last!

They say the climate is becoming warmer...well, certainly not during this month of March in Belgium!

After the usual little surprises linked to the launching of a new yacht suppliers, and a lot of waiting for winds under 35-40 knots, we were finally able to go sailing off Nieuwpoort on March 27...cloudy skies and a steady 25 knots WNW breeze with a chop of 4 to 6' allowed us to really deserve the hot coffee kindly offered by Shipshop after this first test!

Well, guess what: the Pilot Saloon 55 simply is a fantastic sailing yacht. With the self tacking solent jib out and just a few furls in the main (really nice, these electric Andersen marine winches!), we sailed at speeds ranging from 8.5 knots upwind to 11.5 knots on an open reach...and we stayed dry!

Under power (and in the sailboat harbour), we cruised at 7.5 knots at 2400RPM and reached 9,5 knots under full throttle (but not for too long in consideration of local authorities...). The bow drive did not seem to mind the fresh breeze to make the Pilot Saloon 55 pivot one way or the other.

The Pilot Saloon 55: a superb new Wauquiez flagship!
