Designed specifically for high-horsepower four-stroke outboards, the new 28CC utilized their added weight aft for a deeper V even with added beam.
At 28'6", the Southport 28 has a wide 10'6" beam to provide adequate buoyancy for two four-stroke outboards totalling up to 750 horsepower.

The new powerboat is a collaboration of the Southport design team, Hunt Associates and Gerrard Design. The all-fiberglass model utilizes a unitized, foam-filled fiberglass stringer system grid to support the 22-degree deadrise continuously variable vee hull design. A self-bailing cockpit inner liner and deck ring complete the four-piece design.
The composite transom of the new Southport 28 has a slight reverse and tumblehome, features normally found on custom sport fishing yachts. The wide, flared bow has a generous forward rake and a "clipper" stem.
"Since the Southport 28 is designed only for four-stroke, V6 power, we were able to optimise the hull shape for the weight these heavier engines require", according to Val Jenkins, Southport director of engineering. "Designing for this specific weight results in a combination of wider beam and a very aggressive Ray Hunt deep vee hull. The result is a stable platform for boat with a wide range of usable cruising speeds," he added.
