Seijsener service pedestals: durable products that radiate class

Seijsener service pedestals: durable products that radiate class

“A golden design rule is that simple basic shapes, combined with a choice for robust materials, will lead to durable products that radiate class. That’s the rule we go by in all our product development.” The man uttering these words is Rein Snoeijer, product manager of Seijsener Marina Services.

Snoeijer can give a clear answer to questions about the service life of Seijsener’s pedestal models: “All our pedestals are company-built in accordance with strict Dutch safety standards. The material used for the Atlantic and the Pacific is of premium quality. The main body consists of an extruded high-quality aluminium mast profile no less than 3.5 mm in diameter. The pedestals have been tested and approved by KEMA, an independent testing, consultancy and certification institute with worldwide operations. The pedestal has undergone several exacting tests for dust and water spray resistance, which she came through with flying colours.”

Tests are important, but what do they actually say about the expected service life of a dockside pedestal? Snoeijer claims that Seijsener’s anodized service pedestals are guaranteed to survive in a salt water environment for 10 years without any corrosion problems. He speaks from experience: “Pedestals installed by Seijsener twenty years back are still looking in mint condition and are performing flawlessly, also where they are subject to intensive use coupled with challenging conditions in terms of climate. No leather straps to hold both halves together, no plastic bag and tape to protect the pedestal from water.”
An added advantage: the long service life of a product means less pressure on raw materials and energy sources and a smaller CO2 footprint than that left by a product with a short life.

At Seijsener, durability and product safety go hand in hand. For instance, the Atlantic features two separate compartments across its full length, each with a closeable door. So the combined electricity and water functions within the pedestal are entirely separate.
