Scorpion encourages more affordable ribbing with the Scorpion Sport 6.5m

To date Scorpion has always built its RIBs (rigid inflatable boats) to order. Now, as part of its overall growth plans, the company is introducing a new range of four standard production models, based on the famous Scorpion hull.

The new range sees the re-introduction of a smaller boat based on Scorpion’s popular 6.5m which ceased production eight years ago. The Scorpion Sport 6.5m is launching here at the PSP Southampton Boat Show.

According to Patrick Byrne, Managing Director of Scorpion RIBs, “The 6.5m was a very popular boat which was usurped as the demand for larger boats grew.

We have had many requests for its re–introduction and the originals are in high demand. We are expanding our sales base and introducing a standard range based on customer feedback. The 6.5m is a good place to start.

This boat is competitively priced and in the past the residual values have held up very well, so it is an ideal Scorpion starter boat.

Over the last six months the boat has been tested independently and has been very well received. As with all Scorpions you need to drive it to believe in it.”

The Scorpion 6.5m Sport is the smallest model in a stunning range that currently stretches up to the Sting 10m, launched last year.

This new baby in the Scorpion family introduces the delights of owning and running a Scorpion to a wider, but still highly discerning, audience.

She’s a fun boat, good in all weathers and ideal for family use and is really enjoyable to drive. Capable of 35+ knots, the Sport is easy to trail and manage in and out of the water.

Scorpion has identified that there is a large enough market out of there of potential customers wishing to buy a Scorpion but perhaps finding it difficult to justify purchasing one of the larger models during these tougher economic times.

By producing a smaller, and significantly cheaper production model, the company is expanding its customer base at a time when some other manufacturers are keeping their heads down.

With the purchase of a Scorpion 6.5m Sport the owner immediately climbs onto a higher rung of that aspirational ladder but at a more affordable outlay.
