Scanstrut Launch DAME Special Mention Waterproof iPad Case Scanstrut

Marine products manufacturer Scanstrut Ltd have launched an exciting new product at this year’s METS event - the innovative Waterproof iPad Case. Developed in response to evolving demands from marine professionals and boating enthusiasts, the Waterproof iPad Case is expected to be a big hit.

Shortlisted for a DAME Award and awarded a Special Mention, the Waterproof iPad Case was designed because of the increasing number of boat owners that take iPads to sea in order to use them with chartplotters, propulsion systems and on board entertainment. It is a fully IP66/IP67 waterproof and shockproof enclosure, with models available to fit both the iPad 1 and iPad 2. Full touchscreen usability is available at all times, as are volume, on/off and home buttons, and both front and rear camera functionality is provided for the iPad 2.

Using a semi rigid, two piece case, the design offers maximum protection from water ingress and impact, allowing an iPad to be used outside in all weather and conditions. The slimline profile, measuring just 22mm, makes it the smallest, most compact waterproof iPad case on the market, plus it has the added benefit of being buoyant if the unit is dropped into the sea.

Managing Director of Scanstrut, Tom Reed, comments, “There is an increasing trend and expectation for users of marine electronics to be able to integrate with widely used consumer and business devices, such as tablet computers and phones. This means that the iPad case needs to offer users full functionality of their device, whilst being practical and stylish, all of which this product does.

The iPad case has an ergonomically designed hand strap in marine grade materials, which is suitable for both left and right handed users and allows the iPad to be used in portrait or landscape orientation. A number of accessories can be added to this product, including a fixed mount option that enables hands free operation and a lanyard for ease of carrying.

The Waterproof iPad Case has been developed as part of the Scanstrut Elements range, which has been created for ‘life in the elements’. Products within the range are designed specifically for the marine environment, although they would be equally suited to many other outdoor pursuits.
