Regatta AS, Norway has developed a new thermal lifejacket for infants, Thermo Cruise
Baby 2010. This lifejacket is approved according to the new regulation MSC 200(80)
entering into force as from July 2010.
Through extensive testing with new test-methods, the lifejacket has proved performance
to be in compliance with the requirements of the new regulation.
Comfortable to wear – easy donning. It has been of great importance to design a
lifejacket with optimal comfort to give parents and babies the best possible feeling of
confidence and safety. Thermo Cruise Baby 2010 is easy to don, just to put on as a
jacket, and close with click-buckles and a zipper.
Thermo Cruise Baby 2010 is covering vital parts of the body with an isolating layer, to
prevent loss of body temperature (hypothermia). The head of the baby is protected by
an isolated hood, as the head is most exposed for heat-loss.
The isolating layer will also protect against punches to the body and head in an
emergency situation.
The “mother’s line” is a multi functional belt, making it possible for the parents to
connect the baby to their own lifejacket and make sure they will keep close contact with
the baby during an evacuation. The belt is also fit as a lifting loop for safe and
comfortable lifting of the baby.
This lifejacket is developed from the previous model Thermo Cruise Baby, which has been
preferred by many cruise and passenger ships all over the world.
Due to a revision to Regulation III/7 of the SOLAS convention it is as from July 2010
required that all passenger ships must have infant lifejackets onboard in following
numbers:
a) At least 2, 5% of the total number of passengers for voyages less than 24 hours
b) For voyages of 24 Hours and more, one lifejacket for each infant must be available
onboard each passenger ship
Regatta Thermo Cruise Baby 2010 will comply with this new regulations.
