Vendres has appointed Poralu Marine to extend and redevelop its marina

Port (01), 18th September 2008 – Vendres is a seaside resort in the Hérault département which stands at the mouth of the Aude. With a mixed harbour housing about a hundred moorings for sailing boats, plus
a dry dock with room for 100 more, the town lends itself to a larger marina so that it can meet the everincreasing demands of sailors.

Poralu Marine is again playing its part in improving facilities on the Mediterranean In February 2007, the Hérault General Council entrusted the task of extending and redeveloping the marina in Vendres to Poralu Marine. The town of Vendres is hoping to blend fishing and shellfish farming with sailing in and around the harbour, something typical of the atmosphere in Hérault harbours.

The Hérault département has invested a great deal of money in developing its coastline, and activity at sea and in the harbour will increase the quality of the infrastructure and the extent to which the wealth of resources it has
is used. This approach will contribute towards the region's economic development, yet the bygone beauty of the harbour will be retained, the project to extend and deepen the harbour at Vendres, undertaken by the Hérault General Council, being a prime example of this.

Poralu Marine's mission to create a further 120 moorings, thus doubling the capacity of the marina, will enable the facilities of the existing harbour to be used to the full. Some 500 m of floating pontoons with 68 catwalks will be built to take boats from 6 to 12 m in length.

These pontoons, designed to the customer's requirements by Poralu Marine, will be fully compliant with the specifications and manufacturing procedures of this acknowledged expert in top-of-the-range marina equipment.

With an aluminium structure supported by roto-moulded polyethylene floats and covered with environmentallyfriendly tropical hardwood decking, the design of these pontoons blends perfectly with the natural surroundings, which it would be criminal to destroy. The contract value of this order is 450 k€. The entire extension and redevelopment project will be complete by the end of 2008.

Up and running since summer this year, this new marina will add to the many projects already undertaken by Poralu Marine on the Mediterranean, especially in Marseillan, Carnon, Cap d’Agde, La Grande Motte and Port Camargue, the largest marina in Europe, with 4,860 spaces.
