SUPERTAINER CRANE
Standard quay cranes perform all work with a single trolley.
The SUPERTAINER Crane is a new, high productivity quay crane that uses three trolleys to handle containers.
The SUPERTAINER crane is capable of twice the productivity of a standard quay crane: 85 container moves per hour.
As container volumes and vessel capacities continue to grow worldwide, it is becoming necessary to adopt high productivity container handling systems. The SUPERTAINER crane is a high productivity quay crane that employs three trolleys: two hoist trolleys, and one traverser.
Traditional quay cranes perform all operations with a single trolley, which limits their productivity. A single trolley must move the full distance between the containership and the landside trucks. The SUPERTAINER crane however, deploys three trolleys to perform container movements.
A single trolley focuses on operating on the container vessel. Another trolley, located landside, focuses on containers on the terminal trucks. The traverser transports containers between these two trolleys.
The SUPERTAINER crane therefore divides all operations amongst three trolleys, reducing the movement time for each container and improving overall productivity.
Our simulations show that the SUPERTAINER crane is capable of operating at more than twice the productivity of a conventional quay crane: up to 85 moves per hour.
SUPERTAINER Crane Features
Reduced Delays from Sway: Hoist Trolleys do not perform excessive lateral movement, drastically reducing sway
Internal Buffer: The Multiple Trolleys provides a natural buffer between crane and terminal truck operaitons.
