Outer Reef Yachts introduces their new Yachtfish series

Outer Reef Yachts is introducing the first in a series of Yachtfish models. This past year’s spike in fuel prices caused many traditional battlewagon sport fishing machines, with their large horsepower engines and unsightly fuel burns, to spend more time dockside than fishing. Right now fuel prices have abated, but most believe this is a short lived reprieve and when the economy heats up, fuel prices will rise too.
Many yachtsmen have given up hard core fishing but still wish to drag bait. They are looking in a new direction towards the Yachtfish motor yacht. The Yachtfisher is the best of both worlds. With cruising speeds of 14 to 18 knots, getting to the fishing grounds may take a bit longer but once you get there, you can raise fish just like you did on that hardcore battlewagon. Following a day of hauling in the dinner, you will relax onboard in opulent luxury with all the accoutrements a fine motor yacht provides.
Planning an excursion to far off fishing grounds? The Yachtfish platform affords long range cruising in comfort, and extended periods of time offshore. With less stops for refueling, you will arrive at your destination with less expense and minimal time spent at the fuel dock.
Outer Reef Yachts has an 86’ Yachtfish under construction for a California client. Delivery is slated for December of this year. The Outer Reef long range motor yacht is a natural for transition to the Yachtfish platform due to her inherent stability, offshore capabilities (open Ocean “A” rating), as well as her abundant storage and deck space. A huge boat deck means the owner’s favorite flats boat can be on board rather than towed. With her proven semi-displacement hull design, desired speeds can be attained by choosing an engine package based on the owner’s cruising/fishing requirements.
“Being a custom builder, we can tailor any Outer Reef to an owner’s specifications. We see the Yachtfish market as one that will continue to expand over the coming years and we will be introducing many more models in our Yachtfish fleet”, says Jeff Druek, CEO of Outer Reef Yachts.
