<![CDATA[New Centurion 57]]> Complete yacht featured in Cannes next september!

The Centurion 57 marks the return of the mythical “Centurion” lineage onto the luxury yacht market.
Powerful, thoroughbred, as manoeuvrable as a racing yacht yet as comfortable, elegant and luxurious as a super yacht, the Centurion 57 is the quintessence of Wauquiez’ expertise in terms of conception and high end yacht building.
An efficient, comfortable hull
The hull is powerful and versatile. Designed to endure the harshest sailing conditions, it will face bad weather without fail. In light airs, her downwind design ensures her to react to the slightest breeze.
With a strengthening wind, the Centurion 57 will be propelled to impressive speed for a yacht this size while maintaining excellent comfort.
Equipped with a 2m50 bulb keel, the Centurion is stiff and efficient in all points of sailing. The mast, higher than 23m, is equipped with a 9/10 type rigging without a backstay, with swept spreaders to make the best of the yacht’s potential « performance ».]]>

<![CDATA[New Azuree 46]]> We love this style of boat; it delivers a heady mix of excitement and excellent traction. If it was a car it would be one which could be thrown it into the corners at high speed in the knowledge that it would respond to the driver’s most delicate touch - adrenaline and reassurance mixing in a rare infusion.
But... fast, exciting yet forgiving: these are qualities one can find in a dedicated, custom raceboat, and in themselves are not enough to enthuse the wider sailing sector. We needed to focus not just on performance per se, but on performance versus handicapping, under both IRC and ORC rules. We wanted to design a boat that could thrill in its sailing qualities but also have a chance of delivering some silverware, and with the Azuree 46 we believe we have a boat with well-rounded capability. Of course she will be fast and exhilarating downwind in a breeze, but at the same time powerful upwind in the same conditions, with her long waterline and easy lines giving her the feel and power of a larger yacht. And in the same, ambidextrous way we had to make sure she was no slouch in the light; her hull may be wide and powerful, but the upright immersed sections represent a surprisingly low wetted area form in order to minimise viscous drag and make the most of the Azuree 46’s generous sail plan.
If it was a case of ticking boxes, that’s a few of them addressed. But for many boat owners, performance and race-winning potential is only part of their lifestyle. For an immense number, sailing is also about the simple joys of just enjoying life on board, to have home-comforts at anchor as much as to have long-distance passagemaking as part of their potential itinerary. The Azuree 46 can hold its hand up as a very capable cruising yacht, as able to slog it round Ushant in the teeth of a South Westerly as to provide exuberant comfort at anchor in Göcek, where the enormous cockpit transforms itself into an enveloping reclining area.
The Azuree 46 is a thoughtfully blended cocktail, sensitively composed and definitely shaken, not stirred.]]>

<![CDATA[New 54 DS]]>
"We’re very excited to have the first two 54 DSs here in Australia" says Windcraft’s Managing Director, Peter Hrones.

"It’s a great boat for the extremes in our climate. The cockpit area shelters you from the weather and the fantastic awning system gives you much needed UV protection from the intense Australian sun. The deck saloon is one of the most comfortable, stress free ways to sail anywhere, hot or cold, in the world. The Moody deck saloons are also one of the only true Deck saloons yachts on the market with a true 360 degree view with continuous inside outside flow and a dedicated inside helm and navigation station."

Peter Hrones continues, "The excellent hand-built finish and high-end equipment list on the Moody 54 DS makes this model perfect for long distance cruising."

The two new 54 DSs will have different layouts. Hull # 1 will be the galley up option, with 4 cabins - ideal for families. The galley up version offers more sleeping space downstairs and allows parents to watch children while cooking and entertaining upstairs. Hull # 2 will have 3 cabins and a very large galley down below for those wanting more cooking space, storage and room for lounging and entertaining in the deck saloon. The owner of hull#002 has already made plans to also compete in the 70th Sydney to Hobart with family and friends aboard.

The extra 9 feet on the 54 DS from the 45 DS is most noticeable in the extra large saloon and the cabins. Owners now have the option of adding a guest cabin to be just as good as the owner’s cabin, a benefit for long passages and extended periods living aboard. The new dinghy garage offers out of the way storage and easy access for going on excursions or ashore.]]>

<![CDATA[BAVARIA is proud to announce further details of the brand new CRUISER 37!]]> . Large panorama windows
. A new deck design
. The largest bathing platform on the market

The new deck design creates a more spacious atmosphere and benefits from a longer foredeck. This means that the new CRUISER 37 can easily accommodate up to six people.
The generous cockpit area with cockpit table has seating for all crew members and still allows plenty of freedom of movement for manoeuvres. In addition, the new twin wheel steering enables easy access to the bathing platform, whilst still providing all-round visibility for the skipper.
Below deck the CRUISER 37 has plenty to shout about. The spacious salon has a new storage concept for optimal organisation of life on board with multiple crew members. The new panorama windows allow plenty of light into the interior and together with the new coachroof windows help to create a sense of greater spaciousness. The high-quality furnishings come in three different colours with a range of upholstery options.
Thanks to its improved cabin design, the CRUISER 37 provides additional space in the forward cabin for a wider double bed and increased standing height in the aft cabin.

<![CDATA["KatExpress 2" has been delivered to Mols Linien]]>
KatExpress 2 is the fourth 112 metre to be built by Incat and it can carry up to 1000 persons and 415 cars (or 210 cars and 567 truck lane metres). Characterised by high payload capability, efficient slender hull lines, wide beam and the absence of drag inducing underwater appendages, the 112 metre offers industry leading transport efficiency, economies of scale, speed and seakeeping.

For KatExpress 2 Mols Linien specified a modern, high quality yet functional dual class interior that maximised comfort and on board revenue. Notable features include a business class with luxury leather seating and panoramic views, a bistro restaurant, a large Baresso™ café bar outlet, two cinemas, a children’ s play area, a protected promenade deck and a large outdoor aft deck.

Access to the passenger lounges are through a passenger lift, ramps or stairwells, all designed to minimise embarkation and disembarkation times. The main vehicle deck has hydraulically operated stern gates. The upper car deck can be accessed by either a two lane ramp on the main deck or notably from innovative dual tier shore ramps already installed by Mols Linien in Odden port.

KatExpress 2 achieved a speed of 42.1 knots at 671.5 tonnes deadweight during sea trials.

The vessel has embarked on a 12500 nautical mile delivery voyage from Hobart, Tasmania via the Panama Canal to Aarhus, Denmark.

In early May 2013 KatExpress 2 will enter commercial service on the 39 nautical mile Danish domestic route between Aarhus and Odden alongside her Incat built sistership, KatExpress 1 which entered service in May 2012. The two vessels are scheduled to operate at 37-38 knots with fast 20-30 minute turnarounds. Each vessel will operate eight crossings per day and steam up to 109,000 nautical miles per year! Max Mols, an Incat 91 metre, delivered to Denmark in 1998 will be transferred to the Ebeltoft to Odden route operating between 4 and 8 sailings per day.

Mols Linien CEO, Soren Jespersen commented: "In 2011 we concluded a strategic business review which redefined our tonnage strategy to a focus on solely operating high speed car passenger ferry services. The entry into service of the 112 metre KatExpress 1 in May 2012 has directly resulted in a year on year traffic increase of 8.2% to 751,635 cars, a 28% reduction in fuel consumption, a 33% reduction in CO2 emissions, significantly lower operating costs per car carried, higher revenue per sailing and most importantly, a second half operating profit of DKK21 million before depreciation and amortisation."

"I am am very pleased to have taken delivery of our second 112 metre, KatExpress 2, it offers a fantastic on board experience tailored to our client base, it continues our business transformation, expands our route capacity by 65% and it will ensure good full year profitability for Mols Linien in 2013."

Incat Chairman, Robert Clifford commented: "I am delighted that Mols Linien has chosen to operate a fleet that is entirely comprised of Incat built vessels, including two of our 112 metre flagships customised for the European market.

"The Mols Linien vision is not about speed at any cost, rather about incorporating efficiency and best practice in every aspect of their operation, both onboard or onshore. The collaborative efforts of Mols Linien and Incat specialists on KatExpress 1 and in particular, KatExpress 2, have challenged conventional operating wisdom to deliver not only an unrivalled passenger experience but a profitable high speed ferry operation in difficult economic times. I take this opportunity to congratulate Mols Linien on taking delivery of KatExpress 2 and also in taking the initiative to design and install a dual tier linkspan which ensures full load turnarounds can be achieved in only 28 minutes and the capabilities of the 112 metre are fully exploited."

Notes to editors:

· Mols Linien is the world’s largest operator of Incat vessels by Gross Tonnage

<![CDATA[Ulstein Verft delivered new PSV ‘Blue Thunder’]]>
Owned by Blue Ship Invest, a wholly-owned company in Ulstein Group, the platform supply vessel (PSV) is commercially and technically under the management of Atlantic Offshore. ‘Blue Thunder’ will enter a 4-month contract with Statoil, with 4 monthly options.

“We have received good feedback from the operators on her three sister vessels, and we are very pleased that this ship also enters into a contract for work in the North Sea,” says Gunvor Ulstein, CEO of Ulstein Group and Managing Director of Ulstein Shipping, adding that the remaining two vessels will be delivered later this year and all six vessels are for sale.

In the North Sea, PSVs of the PX121 designs are considered medium-sized. The vessels with this design have an optimal combination of fuel-efficiency and deadweight. They have the capacities and performance close to the segment for larger PSVs, but at a cost that provides excellent value-for-money.

The vessels’ X-BOW® hull line design offers efficiency over a wide draught range, which is important for PSVs as they frequently operate with varying loads. Moreover, the X-BOW has unique, beneficial qualities in terms of motion and propulsion efficiency in heavy seas. Both the hull and choice of propulsion system make the vessels particularly suited for North Sea and North Atlantic conditions.

‘Blue Thunder’ has a length of 83.4 metres and a beam of 18 metres, and keeps a maximum speed of approximately 16 knots. She has a load capacity of 4,200 tonnes (dwt), and the 850 square metre cargo deck can carry a deck load of 2,200 tonnes. In addition to tanks for oil, water and drilling fluids, the vessel has four stainless steel tanks for flammable liquids. ‘Blue Thunder’ has modern accommodation for 23 persons, she is equipped with a dynamic positioning system IMO class II and meets the requirements of DNV’s Clean Design notation.

Ulstein Power & Control has delivered the electrical systems on board, including power distribution and electrical propulsion system, the information and communication system ULSTEIN COM®, modular consoles and integrated navigation systems and the integrated automation system ULSTEIN IAS®.]]>

<![CDATA[Leadership redefined – Introducing PureBallast 3.0]]>
BWT’s new reality
As the first regulations begin taking effect, the issues surrounding ballast water treatment are becoming acute. More ship owners, ship operators and shipyards are considering ballast water treatment systems – and voicing demands on space, flexibility and energy efficiency.
Alfa Laval’s PureBallast, which was developed in cooperation with Wallenius Water, is a mature system that has long been at the forefront of ballast water treatment. Hundreds of systems have been sold, well over a hundred have been commissioned, and thousands of hours have been logged in actual use. When preparing the system’s third generation, no stone has been left unturned in meeting today’s expectations.

Rethinking PureBallast
Not since the first solutions were proposed has so much research and development gone into a ballast water treatment system. Every aspect of PureBallast has been re-examined and re-evaluated to produce the most compact, easily installed and energy-efficient system possible.
Though it employs the same award-winning technology, the result is far more than an update. PureBallast 3.0 is a redefinition of what a ballast water treatment system can achieve.]]>

Customers are raving about the Elco Electric Propulsion System. Hardworking brothers Mike and Brad Pease are trying to keep Cape Cod’s water as clean as it was when they were kids. “There is no carbon footprint with this Motor. It is totally off the grid,” Mike says proudly. “The fact that we can do this is because of what Elco has done. They provided us with an electric propulsion package that is virtually plug and play. The zero footprint system they built is a huge triumph.”

Elco motor owner John Jorgensen has seen marine technologies come and go during his lifetime on the water, and believes the Elco EP motor is here to stay: “Every boater is aware of the need for keeping our waters pristine for us and future generations. The Elco EP motor is very clean, silent and I think it’s the future of boating.” These are no small statements coming from a lifelong Mariner. See their entire testimonials at www.elcomotoryachts.com.

Elco representatives will be on hand at METS to answer questions related to their “zero emission” electric motor, which produces no noise, vibration, heat or fumes and has no need for regular maintenance. The EP motor uses a 3-phase AC motor with but one moving part that now offers owners of launches, trawlers, catamarans, and sailboats a reliable choice. State of the art batteries provide 6-8 hours of power before needing a recharge, which can be supplied by either shore power or the optional “Energy” package that combines onboard solar panels and a wind generator. Many believe that this system will be a mainstay of pleasure boating in the future.

For those unfamiliar with Elco, the company is the nation’s oldest manufacturer of electric boats with both a heritage of and reputation for quality dating to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.]]>

More recently, a new exclusive manufacturing technique was applied. Through this, fabrics can be assembled in a way that could not be achieved up until then. This innovation creates high-performance clothing whose comfort is second to none for people working in the maritime world.

Guy Cotten has used the expertise of its two leading markets in a single concept:

The use of PVC coated fabric as “heavy duty” and flexible clothing for fishermen around the world: Nylpêche and Cap-Coz fabrics (exclusive to Guy Cotten)
The use of tough, confortable,, breathable fabric for skipper’s clothing in Transoceanic Races: Dremtech +.

The “Dremdream” clothing range marks spectacular progress as regards comfort in the professional clothing market. It is strong, lightweight, long lasting and its comfort is second to none!

In this range, we offer clothing that is extremely tough in the most used areas and highly breathable in the more protected areas that are in contact with the body.
The upper part of the Drempro Jacket is made of the very technical Dremtech + breathable fabric. This is a highly technical breathable, comfortable, tough fabric. It is comprised of 5 layers in all. The most used areas of the DREMPRO jacket are made of NYLPECHE fabric, since this fabric is a reference when it comes to longevity. Moreover, DREMPRO has kept the qualities and technical details that have made the brand famous throughout the maritime world: toughness, suitability to working conditions. Available in Blue/yellow and Orange/yellow colours.

The Drembib bib and braces trousers revolutionizes comfort! It is light, breathable and tough! It is a bib with braces with high back and front. Self adjusting waist. Made of Nylpêche on the front, and of breathable Dremtech+ fabric on the back. It provides maximum comfort when working. Available in Blue/yellow and Orange/yellow colours.

Testimonial from a sailor at the Fishing industry show in Ireland:
“I wear nothing but this. Once you’ve tried it you can’t wear anything else! It’s really fantastic! And two years on, it is still working !”]]>

<![CDATA[FLIR launches MU- / MV-series: Gyro-stabilized, ultra long-range multi-sensor thermal night vision system]]>
Unlike other night vision systems that require low amounts of light to generate an image, thermal imaging requires no light at all. It’s ideal for seeing channel markers, shipping lane traffic, outcroppings of land, bridge pilings, debris, exposed rocks, other vessels and indeed any other hazardous floating object. Other applications include long range threat detection and man-overboard searches.

FLIR MU-Series
It is a powerful, gyro-stabilized multi-sensor, long range, thermal night vision system. The top model, FLIR MU-602CLW features four different payloads in the same system.By the touch of a button the user can switch between the different cameras.
The FLIR MU-602C comes with a cooled thermal imaging camera and a daylight camera, the FLIR MU-602CL has an additional low light camera.

FLIR MV-Series
The FLIR MV-Series offer a thermal imaging camera equipped with an uncooled vanadium Oxide (VOx) detector producing thermal images of 640 x 480 pixels. It is the more affordable multi-sensor solution. The thermal imaging camera zooms between a 24.5° x 4.1° field of view. The FLIR MV-604C is equipped with a thermal imaging camera and a visible color cameras. The FLIR MV-604CL comes with a black & white low light camera as well.

Joystick Control Unit
The FLIR MU- / MV-Series come standard with a remote Joystick Control Unit (JCU) to operate the Pan/Tilt and to access all features. Additional JCUs, which can be used to control the FLIR MU- / MV-Series from different locations on board of a vessel, are optionally available.

The JCU is the primary method of control for the FLIR MU- / MV-Series. It can be used to move the camera (pan or tilt), zoom the
cameras in and out, switch between different camera images, adjust the image quality, and access the on-screen menus.
The FLIR MU- / MV-Series control panel is fully sealed for use in a maritime environment. The joystick provides precise proportional
speed control. Use it to have the FLIR MU- / MV-Series look in the exact direction you want.

The FLIR MU- / MV-series can be installed in ball-up or ball-down position, giving you more flexibility installing it on your vessel.]]>

<![CDATA[Heesen launches the 65m Fast Displacement!]]>
On 25th March, the first all aluminium fast displacement motor yacht was launched at Heesen’s facility in Oss and christened Galactica Star.

The concept was presented to the yachting community in September 2010 at the Monaco Yacht Club and the contract for the construction of the first 65 metre FDHF was signed just one month later, in October 2010. Construction took place at the Heesen facility in Oss where the laying of the keel was marked with an official ceremony in February 2011.

Sophisticated hydrodynamic design by Van Oossanen Naval Architects resulted in a vessel that is 30% more e cient than a round-bilge motor yacht.
In conjunction with Heesen Yachts in-house naval architects, Van Oossanen Naval
Architects also implemented the naval architecture. The vessel’s advanced design combines a special hybrid hull form that results in a very low wave profi le over the entire speed range, while also improving sea-keeping and manoeuvrability.
This provides a very positive impact on the cost of running the yacht, as well as
lowering the environmental footprint due to reduced engine emissions.
When combined with Heesen’s acknowledged weight reduction expertise and a pair of MTU 20V4000M93L engines (each developing 4.300kW at 2.100 rpm) Galactica Star will be able to deliver her excellent top speed of 27 knots as well as a very economical fuel burn and a particularly long range of 4.200Nm at 14 knots.
Award-winning designers have been appointed by the Owners for this very special
project: Frank Laupman at Omega Architects is responsible for the streamlined and elegant exterior lines, while Bannenberg and Rowell Design have created the sophisticated interior that perfectly complements such a dynamic and sleek exterior design.
Galactica Star is due to leave the Heesen facility in Oss for intensive sea trials in the North Sea. Delivery to her Owners is scheduled for June 2013.]]>

<![CDATA[Watt&Sea Hydrogenerator : 30 days in complete autonomy of energy, on a 4,75m sailboat]]>
Hello Jean-Claude. Can you tell us more about the Watt&Sea hydrogenerator and explain why you particularly choose this product?
JCM: “Tthis choice appeared quite simply obvious to me. It is not only a reliable tool but also so easy to use ! The hydrogenerator was presented to me as a system producing energy, even at low speed. The Souriceau exactly measures 4.75 m, weighs only 500 kg and surfs at an average speed of 4 knots. The benefits of the Watt&Sea hydrogenerator were highly interesting for my project. Before the departure, we replaced the original propeller by longer blades (280mm propoeller). With this small modification, the hydrogenerator was effective as from 2.8 knots which was great! ”
Was the hydrogenerator your single and/or your primary energy source?
JCM: “My primary source of energy and even the single one despite the two 20 Watts solar panels, connected on the spare battery. On board, I had 2X70 amps battery connected to the hydrogenerator. The first days, I was constantly checking the load. The batteries were totally full, all the time. So after time, I was even not controlling them anymore, as I was so confident that the Watt&Sea hydrogenerator was reliable and could always ensure me a great autonomy”.
Does the hydrogenerator create a drag? Is it noisy? Do you have some suggestions ?
JCM: “No, I did not notice that the hydrogenerator is noisy. I think it is creating a small drag but to me, it was unperceivable. Now, if I could suggest to make bigger holes, so that it would be possible to use bigger stronger ropes.”
How would you summarize the product in a single sentence?
JCM: “Having the Watt&Sea hydrogenerator on board is like having your energy provider at home. There is light in all rooms and you shouldn't be worried about your energy autonomy! “
What will become the Souriceau now?

JCM: “It will be exhibited in various shows. I even believe that someone wishes to buy it. In any case, what is sure is that I do not imagine any more to make a crossing without a Watt&Sea hydrogenerator on board! ”
Jean-Claude, thank you very much for this testimonial. We wish you all the best and to actively continue to live your passion for sailing!]]>

<![CDATA[Engine Monitoring Unit launched by NMEA Specialists]]>
Following extensive beta testing with a number of key distributors, the EMU-1 has gone into production, enabling the immediate fulfilment of orders placed as the market eagerly anticipates the latest innovation from Actisense.

The EMU-1 enables the sharing of engine data throughout the NMEA 2000 bus. It digitises analogue engine senders, enabling all NMEA 2000 display devices to monitor the engine on a vessel. The unit can handle 6 gauge / parameter inputs (these can be instead of the gauge or in parallel with the gauge), 4 alarm inputs, 2 Tach inputs and 2 additional auxiliary inputs, which are flexible to suit each installation.

Each EMU-1 can be configured to suit the engine it is working with, offering a flexible solution for many engine makes and models. Basic configuration will be available initially; however known configurations for various gauges and senders will be added to the configuration software in coming months.

Phil Whitehurst, Managing Director of Active Research Limited said, “The EMU-1 has been designed so engine information can be easily shared on the NMEA 2000 bus, removing the need and expense associated with changing an existing engine. This will change the way analogue to NMEA data conversions are done. We are gathering feedback from customers to understand what they want the EMU-1 to support so we can prioritise adding additional features.”

<![CDATA[Hyde GUARDIAN Ballast Water Treatment System Earns Alternate Management System Approval from United States Coast Guard]]>
AMS approval is a first step to achieving full USCG Type Approval and is an interim measure that allows these BWTS to be used on vessels for five years after the vessel is required to comply with the USCG Ballast Water Discharge Standards. The five-year period is designed to allow the BWTS manufacturer sufficient time to obtain U.S. Type Approval and to ensure the ship operator’s compliance with U.S. ballast water regulations.

Most vessels operating in U.S. waters with ballast capacities between 1500 ¬m³/hr and 5000 m³/hr will be required to meet USCG Ballast Water Discharge Standards by the time of their first major drydocking after January 1, 2014.

<![CDATA[DOMETIC MARINE INSTALLS EMERALD UNITS ON NEW ISLAND PACKET YACHTS MODEL]]>
The success of the collaboration to fit the Emerald units on the Blue Jacket 40 has secured the opportunity for future Dometic Marine installations on the new line and also on other yachts in the Island Packet range.

Announced in September of last year and first launched in March 2013, the Blue Jacket 40 is the result of a partnership between Island Packet naval architect and CEO Bob Johnson and renowned yacht designer Tim Jackett and is the first in a series of planned designs being built at the company’s Largo, Florida headquarters.

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning specialists Dometic Marine were consulted from the early design stages through its dealer Peterson Marine in Tampa, Fl, to ensure the Emerald units could be utilized and adapted in the most efficient way to suit the lay-out of the Island Packet model.

Bill Bolin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Blue Jacket Yachts, said: “I believe that the first installation of Dometic Marine’s equipment ‘at the factory’ will open the door for future installations, not only on the Blue Jacket, but the entire Island Packet Yachts range as well.

“The split system, isolating the compressor noise from the living compartments, was a perfect solution on the Blue Jacket 40 as a luxury performance cruiser.

“Peterson Marine, the local agent/installer for Dometic, has been a favored vendor of ours for some time. Thorough, well planned out installations with high quality materials and components provide our customers with trouble-free service.”

Operating with R410A environmentally safe green gas, Dometic’s Emerald Series is a range of direct-expansion split HVAC systems which provides increased efficiency by using fewer amps per capacity and offers a refined, quieter system that maximizes performance and durability.

Pat Peterson, Managing Director of Peterson Marine, said: “The Emerald Series units were selected because of the small foot print and compact size of the equipment and the efficiency of the R410 refrigerant. These characteristics worked perfectly with the way we wanted to air condition this particular design of Island Packet racing/cruising yacht.”

The Blue Jacket 40 contains a single 16,000 BTU Emerald condensing base, connected to two TurboVap (TVE) air handler units. One 12,000 BTU high velocity air handler has been installed high up in the hanging locker on the forward starboard side and a second 4,000 BTU high velocity air handler has been located in the top of the starboard aft cabin locker.

“Dometic Marine has engineered TXVs [Thermal Expansion Valves] on these new Emerald TVE air handlers,” added Peterson. “This allows the best balance of refrigerant, making a single compressor, two air-handler system the most efficient.

“The air handler installed in the forward locker is hidden and provides excellent air flow to the main salon and galley and forward V-berth. The second, aft air-handler provides air flow to the two aft state rooms. Meanwhile, the compressor base is installed aft of the aft cabins in the equipment area, keeping the noise out of the cabins.

“We are confident that the work completed on this project and lay-out will provide the platform for us to work on future Blue Jacket 40 models which are ordered with the air conditioning option.”

Dometic’s Emerald Series provides up to 17.5% more cooling capacity and its rotary compressor reduces amperage by up to 40% compared to older counterparts.

It also incorporates an innovative, square design for easy installation in tight locations and optimal positioning for any connection configuration. Various mounting options are available to overcome challenging installation requirements.

In addition, the Emerald Condenser features a rust-proof drain pan with two large drain connections for improved condensate removal. The sloped base in the pan provides exceptional drainage even when the boat heaves and rolls, for 85% less standing water. For protection against moisture and contaminants that can destroy the compressor, the system includes a built-in liquid line filter dryer.

The Blue Jacket 40 is a modern interpretation of a performance cruiser and features a three-cabin arrangement, with an option for a two-cabin layout, with the amenities and build quality expected of a luxury sailing yacht.

“The yacht has just been sailed for the first time earlier this month and performance is exceeding our expectations,” added Island Packet’s Bolin. “The combination of performance and high quality build and comfort is simply not available in the market right now.”

The first hull has already been delivered to a dealer in Chicago, with five models of the new design already ordered and another Dometic system due to be installed on hull number six.

Dometic Marine supplies a comprehensive range of air conditioning, sanitation, refrigeration, galley and other equipment to high-profile OEMs globally.]]>

Jack Brewer acquired the Brewer Post Road Boat Yard located behind the original Brewer chandlery, allowing them to provide more services to more boaters. The boatyard became known as one of the premier boatyards in the area, and today it is one of 22 Brewer marinas across Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Maine.
Brewer Bruce & Johnson’s Marina’s new Marine Travelift 50 BFM II features a Cummins diesel engine, sound suppression kit on the engine compartment, wireless remote, two-speed hoists and a sailboat top beam extension. This extension is an important option, as it saves a significant amount of time and manpower, ensuring that the marina’s operations will become even more efficient.
During sailboat lifting, the backstay or forestay can interfere with a mobile boat hoist’s top beam. With Marine Travelift’s innovative sailboat top beam extension, the top beam is moved forward, providing additional clearance while the boat is suspended in the slings. With this feature, a shipyard can lift a much larger number of sailboats without needing to adjust the vessels’ rigging.
There’s no need to dismantle the forestay, which reduces stress on the mast and gives greater ground clearance to the keel during lifting. In addition, the sailboat top beam extension is a major benefit when lifting power vessels with forward-mounted superstructures.
Another important option is the Marine Travelift 50 BFM II’s wireless remote control, which has an impressive range of 300 feet. The wireless remote gives the operator increased visibility of the boat, launch piers and surrounding area, which improves operational safety and ensures maximum maneuverability.
To maintain consistency and provide an extra measure of efficiency and safety, the wireless remote control unit is laid out in the same format as the controls in the operator cab. This provides critical mechanical back-up in the event the transmitter is damaged.]]>

The custom-made, residential-style version of the RushFlush toilet has been fitted into Viking's new 62-foot model.

Following the successful collaboration, the renowned builders of luxury performance sport-fishing and cruising yachts will now be looking to expand its use of the RushFlush toilet into other future models.

The need for a different version of the toilet arose due to space restrictions in certain areas of the Viking 62.

Adam Baker, Regional Sales Manager at Dometic Marine, said: “Viking tested our RushFlush on their 70-ft demo boat last year and the trial process was a success. After the test, Viking spec'd our RushFlush toilet on their new 62 Convertible.

“Initially, we only had an elongated-profile version of the RushFlush, but the Viking 62 required a residential-style version on two of the heads due to space restrictions, while one head would use the original version.

“To accommodate their needs, we have created a new version of the RushFlush style which uses the 4600 flat-back bowl.”

Dometic Sealand's RushFlush toilet series uses high-velocity water jets to macerate and flush waste, while also delivering easy plug-and-play installation and premium comfort.

Incorporating a pre-assembled integral trap-way and discharge loop, the RushFlush takes 50-75% less time to install compared with competing high-flow toilet systems. As with all non-mechanical macerating systems, risk of failure of the RushFlush is significantly reduced, while freshwater flushing capability eliminates plumbing system maintenance issues which are typically associated with raw/sea water systems.

The RushFlush toilet is a full-size, residential-style toilet with large, deep bowl and elongated seat, providing users with exceptional comfort. The toilet can be fitted with an electric handle or a wall-mounted touchpad for flushing.]]>

Port (01), 4 April 2013 – PORALU MARINE has just delivered one of the most important marinas in
Southern China, in Shimei Bay, a district of the town of Wanning, located on Hainan Island. This
successful project is the result of the combined efforts of, and strong synergy between, PORALU MARINE and its
Chinese partner since 2011, the Asia Marina Consortium (AMC) group managed by Larry Lim.
China has great development potential in a market where yachting is making its debut. The marina is now seen
by developers and their clients as an indispensable element in large volume, high end property projects. Hotel or
private residential complexes beside the sea now very often incorporate yacht marinas. The marina market in
China is especially promising in the south of the country due to its warmer climate and the quality of the
water.
Shimei Bay is a large-scale project sponsored by CRC (China Resources Construction).
The expertise acquired by PORALU MARINE over more than 35 years in port facilities, enriched by proven
experience in tropical areas for several years in South America and Australia, has been one of the key elements
in the client’s choice. Finally, the Top-of-the-Range/Made in France positioning is in complete harmony with
the property complex project and adherence to international standards were determining factors.

The building project includes several 5 star hotels including Le Meridien and Westin, which will open in
November 2013 and top-of-the-range residences (private villas on small artificial islands).
With its location on Hainan Island, Hainan literally
translated means "South of the Sea", it will drive forward
not only tourism but the local economy on this tropical
island with fine sand, which has already been much
sought-after by millions of holiday makers over the last
ten years.
In Sanya, a town in the south of Hainan Island, there are
already two important marinas. The design of a marina
close to Wanning will be a new economic boom for the
town in complete harmony with the entire development of
Hainan Island.
PORALU MARINE has realised the installation of the marina in its entirety in accordance with the client’s
requirements and the climatic conditions of the site in a tropical area subject to typhoons. These can create 7
metre high waves outside the breakwater.

The first task of the equipment manufacturer was three-fold:
1/ To ensure that the breakwater being built would be effective in breaking waves that can reach 7 m in typhoon
conditions and reduce them to a maximum of 60 cm inside the marina.
2/ As a consequence to dimension the pontoon structure to be able to accept boats of more than 35 metres.
3/ To design equipment with curved lines, to meet specifications and so that the marina blends harmoniously into
the environment.
When the two phases of the work are completed, the Shimei Bay yachting marina will have 250 places for
berthing 12 to 60 metre boats.
During the first phase of the work more than 80 berths were
delivered by the end of January 2013. The floating
pontoons, supported by an aluminium structure, are equipped
with composite wood decking, designed in entirely recyclable
ecological materials, from the PORALU MARINE range.
A fuelling station (temporary parking pontoon where boats can
fill up with fuel) completes the marina. This is the first floating
fuelling station in China.
The environmental dimension is always a consideration
at PORALU MARINE in the design of these port facilities.
From their manufacture its products incorporate the
separation and recyclability of materials.
All the parts of the pontoon structure that has been installed were manufactured in Port in the Ain (01 -
France).
The Shimei Bay yachting marina, a real floating showcase for PORALU MARINE in an emerging market,
started welcoming its first boats more than a month and a half ago. The construction contract was signed at
the beginning of 2012. The installation of the first 80 berths took place in pace with deliveries which were
staggered between July and November 2012, and were finished at the end of January 2013 just before the
Chinese New Year. The 2nd phase of the work should take place during 2013.
This new marina has added to the many constructions already undertaken by PORALU MARINE in China,
notably in Chengdu, Sanya in the south, at the luxury Hainan Rendez-Vous Trade Fair, and also in
Shanghai with the Suzhou Creek River marina and the Yinhai marina in Qingdao where the yachting
competitions for the Beijing 2008 Olympic games took place.

8,000 products available across five continents have assured PORALU MARINE's place among the leading international
companies in pontoons and high-end port equipment.
PORALU MARINE has a strong international presence, with two production units in France and Canada (Montreal), a
subsidiary in Australia, representation offices in Germany, Italy, Spain, England and China, and a network of agents in the
main international markets.]]>
