To get something right, really right, is a source of great satisfaction. Musto achieved it in 1994 with HPX: the first successful, durable, waterproof and breathable foul weather clothing incorporating GORE-TEX® Ocean Technology.
The last fourteen years have witnessed continued developments in yacht design, rigs and communications, contributing to phenomenal increases in boat for boat speed and the exposure of crew to the elements. HPX has kept pace – evidenced by photos of record-breakers and triumphant race crews.
If you are going seriously offshore this season and you have any doubts about your foul weather clothing system, check out the HPX Offshore Marine jacket, Smock, Trousers and Dry Suit.
Endorsed by some of the world’s most experienced and successful sailors such as Dame Ellen MacArthur, Mike Golding OBE, Grant Dalton, Yves Parlier, Skip Novak, Pete Goss and Mike Sanderson, Musto’s HPX is still regarded as the world’s #1.
HPX Ocean Jacket & Trousers
Designed to withstand really heavy weather, this suit originally forged its reputation in the 1996 BT Challenge Race, specified by Sir Chay Blyth to protect the 130 crew participating aboard 12 67’ steel yachts manufacturer sailing round the world ‘the wrong way’.
30,000 miles x 130 is a lot of sea miles, one third of them upwind in the Southern Ocean.
HPX Ocean was subsequently specified for all the Challenge Group’s racing activities.
