Lifeforce® Marine Defibrillator

Lifeforce® Marine Defibrillator

03/07/2009 - Major Offshore Company Shows Commitment to Crew Welfare with Lifeforce® Marine Defibrillator Order
A major offshore support services company based in Qatar has placed an order for 46 Lifeforce® defibrillators for placement on their vessels for the treatment of any crew members who are struck down by sudden cardiac arrest. The company owns and operates a fleet of vessels consisting of Anchor Handling Tugs, Safety Standby Vessels, Crew Boats, Diving Support Vessels, Wellhead Maintenance Vessels, Wire Line Support Vessels and Construction Vessels.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the world’s biggest killer, killing over 3 million people worldwide every year. SCA can be caused by a number of things including asphyxiation (drowning, choking); electrocution; impact or trauma to the chest; previous heart attack or hearty disease; family history of heart problems; or unknown heart problems. Many of these are constant hazards for crew members working on-board ship. The only proven way to treat SCA is by delivering an electric shock to the heart using a defibrillator to restore a normal heart rhythm.

Many shipping companies are placing even more importance on improving crew welfare in a time when a competent, experienced crew is becoming harder to attract and keep. An ever increasing number of companies are seeing Lifeforce® as a way of demonstrating to their crews that their wellbeing is important to the company. There are now over 1000 Lifeforce® Marine AEDs on-board vessels around the world providing crew members with the security that if a sudden cardiac arrest should occur on-board then the victim has a chance of surviving, whereas without a defibrillator their chances would be nil.

Lifeforce® is the only defibrillator to be Type Approved for marine use and with clear voice prompts and just 2 buttons to press it is so simple that even an untrained member of crew could use it to save a life.

Lifeforce® is available in gold, silver or bronze packages to allow you to pick the one that best meets your needs and budget. Click here to find out more about the Lifeforce® Marine AED.
