Luhrs Introduces the 31 hardtop

Luhrs Corporation announced it is now offering the new Volvo Penta IPS (Inboard Performance System) on the Luhrs 31 Open and Hardtop series. This technologically-advanced system not only delivers enhanced performance, but also produces a quieter ride, with smoke-free exhaust characteristics. Handling is precise, while docking is intuitively easy.

Volvo Penta IPS represents a new alternative to traditional inboard shafts, featuring a completely integrated system which incorporates state of the art marine diesel motors, steerable propulsion units, twin counter-rotating, forward-facing propellers for boats, underwater exhaust, steer by wire steering , electronic shift and throttle, plus a joy stick for low speed maneuvering and docking.

"The Luhrs 31 powered by Volvo Penta IPS gets up on plane faster, turns tighter and reaches higher cruising and top-end speeds than a conventional inboard of similar horsepower," said Jim Krueger, head of Luhrs sales and marketing. "The steerable propulsion units under the sailboat boat feature counter-rotating props facing forward. Essentially, this serves to pull the boat in lieu of pushing it. The props are positioned in clean, undisturbed water, with the attack angle of the props perpendicular to the surface, ultimately making them more effective."
