Press release from FLIR Commercial Vision Systems - 2008-07-21

THERMAL IMAGING FOR EVERY CLASS OF BOAT

The marine market is very important in Norway. The country controls an impressive 10% of the world’s merchant fleet for example and is involved in the complete spectrum of marine activities.

Supplying the electronic needs of this diverse market is what NAVY AS (Ltd), does for a living. This 23-strong chain of marine digital dealers founded in 1980 boat covers the entire coast of Norway and recently it has added FLIR Systems thermal imaging to its portfolio of products.

“Thermal imaging is particularly in demand by the larger leisure boats manufacturer, pilot boats, search & rescue and offshore vessels that comprise a large part of our market,” explained General Manager Per Andresen. “FLIR Systems is a natural partner for us as its products and company profile fit perfectly.”

NAVY will be addressing all marine markets with the FLIR Systems Navigator and Voyager thermal imaging cameras. “There are applications for this technology in leisure craft and commercial shipping right up to large passenger liners and tankers,” Per concludes. “The opportunities are endless as thermal imaging is no longer an expensive luxury. The FLIR Systems cameras are easily affordable and highly effective.”

The NAVY range of FLIR Systems thermal cameras will be central to the company’s display at the forthcoming Nor-Fishing Exhibition in Trondheim from 12th – 15th August 2008. The NAVY stand is number G701 and located in the electronics hall.
