MARITIME NIGHT VISION CAMERA

The Voyager long range, dual view thermal imaging camera from FLIR CVS is ideal for maritime applications. This powerful, gyro-stabilised multi-sensor, mid-range thermal night vision system features two thermal imaging cameras and one daylight/low sailboat light camera. This camera combination allows the captain to view large areas without losing detail. It is accomplished by a unique patented image processing technique that provides both Foveal image mode as well as continuous zoom between the wide and narrow fields of view.

Voyager is highly effective at detecting all manner of hazards in the water. It can ‘see’ a human being more than 2km away and objects up to 6km away. It detects these obstacles in total darkness, through smoke, light fog and other adverse weather conditions. An in-built heater defrosts the camera’s protective window and is capable of melting a 2mm layer of ice within 15 minutes ensuring the lens remains clear so perfect infrared images can be displayed.

Voyager has numerous other maritime applications - seeing channel markers, shipping lane traffic, land outcrops, bridge pilings, exposed rocks, other vessels and hazardous floating objects.

In broad daylight, Voyager can detect objects that remain invisible to the naked eye. As it is immune to glare from the sun it is especially useful when steering into a sunrise or sunset. Other applications include sailboat short to medium range threat detection and man-overboard searching where it is critical to find the person before hypothermia sets in.

Unlike other night vision cameras that require low amounts of light to generate an image Voyager requires no supplementary lighting for boat.
