Press release from ARNAVING - Mobi-Deck - 2009-09-16
Mobi-Deck: The solution for the lack of berths in marinas.

Mobi-Deck: The solution for the lack of berths in marinas.

Mobi-Deck is a system of floating pontoons and mobilized motors that are applied to aid the mooring of boats (with a sail or motor and up to 20 to 50 feet in length). Thanks to a simultaneous movement only one maneuvering channel opens for several rows of breakdowns while having the vessels and moorings attached. The rapid opening of a channel (around 4 min) gives the possibility of relocating one or more vessels simultaneously and is not intrusive to the occupants of the boats or for people traveling on the pontoons in motion.
All opening orders are automated and secured and are directly accessible by vessel occupants via cards with dedicated terminals.
Mobile floating pontoons are equipped with the same port terminals (water, electricity, etc.) as conventional fixed floating pontoons.
The realization is compatible with the demand, up to 6 - 8 months to manufacture, install, and commence operation.
Pedestrian catwalks are linked by inter-faults at regular intervals and make user circulation fluid and reduce the use of additional equipment at boat shows.
Waiting times are very limited.
No moving mechanism or command is immersed for obvious reasons of corrosion.

The advantages of Mobi-Deck:
A substantial gain of space in existing infrastructure.
No major infrastructure and no negative impact to the environment.
Modular construction is readily adaptable to all types of floating pontoons, even to existing jetties, subject to their state.

A pilot project in Cap d'Agde (South France), of 158 places (vessels from 6 to 9 meters) . The project has been operational since summer 2007.
The project has proven the technical feasibility and the economic and system reliability. In 2008, a new system for the opening of the maneuverable areas was added. Users are now able to directly access their mooring pontoon via badges without having to communicate with the Port-Master.

To help in areas of low tides (up to 2 meters) ARNAVING France has developed a new patent of head telescopic piles. No longer will piles have elements that exceed tractors. This innovation significantly simplifies the structure of the tractors and also facilitates the movement of users on breakdowns.

The architecture of Mobi-Deck, that is, containing vessels in small areas, can restrict the eventual accidental pollution of oil thanks to dams that can be suspended in its structures.
