Basalt Fiber made of basalt, a natural renewable source given from nature, is the new fiber AFRICAN CATS uses for the production of her new boat catamaran range FastCats 405 - 455 - 505 - 555 and the Eco Multi Hybrid PowerCat 420.

The first FastCat 455 Green Motion hull has been produced to our complete satisfaction.

Advantages of using basalt fiber in stead of e-glass fiber are:
- total weight of the catamaran reduced with 220 kilos
- an extra layer of basalt used until 40 cm above the waterline
- extra strength
- noise reduction
- better cold-heat isolation
- no electrical conductivity
