Ultra High Performance Spindle Now Available
Accu-Router, Inc. has introduced an ultra high performance high speed spindle for use on its High Velocity CNC routing systems. The spindle is the high precision HSK 63F model power draw bar model with a 20 HP / 24,000 rpm high performance U.S. made motor pack. What makes this spindle different? Plenty!
The ultra high performance HSK 63F spindle from Accu-Router incorporates an Ott-Jakobs (German) massive shaft, draw bar assembly, and retention system (3,200 # of force) with duplex 65 mm I.D. ceramic nose bearings and duplex 40 mm I.D. upper shaft bearings. This is the largest spindle ever built by Accu-Router. This internal “beef” will support industry leading cutting feedrates and loads. The lower bearings are locked into position on the shaft with a fixed pre-load. This permits the exclusive ability to be able to aggressively plunge cut or bore at high feedrates. This spindle can plunge at rates to 600 inches per minute through a 1.500” plywood stack in production. This capability will speed up cycle times. This Accu-Router spindle will produce high quality holes – both entry holes and exit holes with minimal damage. Competitive spindles with variable bearing pre-load cannot be used for aggressive plunge cuts.
The lower and upper end bells are made to high tolerances and then jig bored for precision dowelled alignment. The internal bore is jig bore ground to 0.0001” tolerance. The precision bearing spacers are ground between 0.0001” and 0.000050” tolerance on parallelism. The ceramic bearings are then tandem mounted for the utmost in bearing performance. Micro spray mist fog lubrication is provided to the bearings.
This high performance spindle is liquid chilled with an auxiliary chiller unit. Several sensors are standard to help prevent an early mistake or failure, such as quality tool clamp, coolant flow, spindle heat, ATC tool pocket sense, and low oil level in lubricator. The outer spindle housing is machine tool quality cast iron – 32,000 tensile closed grain. The mounting platform for this spindle is cast iron for high machine cell rigidity. This is most important to high performance.
